Ronald Reagan Legacy Foundation Scholarship for Active Duty and Dependents-Applications Due Aug. 11

General Eligibility The following general criteria will be used to determine eligibility for consideration for The Reagan Legacy Foundation Scholarship:

The Reagan Legacy Foundation proudly honors those who serve aboard USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76) and members of Carrier Air Wing Five by offering scholarships for Sailors and their family members.

The Reagan Legacy Foundation Board has approved $25,000 in total scholarships for 2017, $1,000 for active duty and $2,000 for dependents. Listed below are the eligibility requirements to apply for the scholarship.

The application-which you can get by emailing eso@cvn76.navy.mil- is due Aug. 11, 2017. The scholarship checks and award certificates will be mailed near the end of August to USS RONALD REAGAN.

General Eligibility

The following general criteria will be used to determine eligibility for consideration for The Reagan Legacy Foundation Scholarship:

  • The applicant/recipient must be: 1) an active duty Sailor or member of the Air Wing serving aboard USS RONALD REAGAN as of the application deadline; or 2) the spouse, registered domestic partner, child or dependent of an active duty Sailor or member of the Air Wing serving aboard USS RONALD REAGAN as of the application deadline. "Dependent" is defined as a high school senior or undergraduate student under the age of 24 who is single and has no children. Only one scholarship per family will be awarded in any 12 month period.
  • The applicant/recipient must be enrolled in a college, university, vocational or trade school. Students pursuing degrees or professional certifications on-line are eligible.
  • Applicant/recipient shall be a full-time or part-time student.
  • The applicant/recipient shall have: 1) a minimum of 2.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale or equivalent (letter grade of C), or 2) demonstrate a commitment to future academic performance.
  • The applicant must be a US citizen or legal US permanent resident at the time this application is submitted.

Selection Criteria.

The Reagan Legacy Foundation Scholarship Program shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, national or ethnic origin, or religious preference. The criteria for determining scholarship selectees shall be based on the following:

  • Financial Need
  • Academic achievement or demonstrated commitment to future academic performance.
  • Demonstrated leadership and exta-curricualr activities.
  • A brief written essay about President Ronald Reagan.
